Thoracic Cage

Ribs 1 to 7 are true ribs (they join the sternum by their own cartilage), 8 to 10 are false ribs (their cartilage joins the rib above), and 11 to 12 are floating ribs (no anterior attachment at all). The sternum has three parts: the manubrium, the body, and the xiphoid process.
